A Full Day Away From the City, Without the Logistics
This full-day tour takes you from central Istanbul to the largest islands in the Sea of Marmara. The day lasts about 8 hours and includes hotel pickup and drop-off, air-conditioned coach transportation, and a guide speaking English and Arabic — logistics stay simple so the day is about the islands, not the transit.

Full Itinerary
Route: Central Istanbul → Kabataş Pier → Marmara Sea → Heybeliada → Büyükada → Ottoman Mansions & Pine Roads → Coastal Walking Paths → Kabataş → Hotel.
The day starts with pickup from selected central districts of Istanbul before heading toward the ferry departure point at Kabataş Skelesi. Organized transport removes the guesswork of ferry timing from the very first minute. Exact pickup time can shift slightly by district — your driver confirms the window the evening before.
The ferry ride begins with a scenic cruise under Galata Bridge, giving you a first look at Istanbul's skyline and historic architecture from the water. Your guide narrates the bridge's history and points out Maiden's Tower in Üsküdar — a classic photo opportunity that sets the tone before the open water crossing.
As the ferry pulls further from the pier, the minarets and high-rises gradually flatten into a thin band on the horizon. The open-water stretch resets the pace of the day: wind off the Marmara, seabirds trailing the wake, and the islands slowly growing ahead.
Heybeliada greets you with pine-covered slopes and a drowsy harbour that feels worlds apart from central Istanbul. Its low-key character and hilltop Greek Orthodox seminary give the island a studious, unhurried mood — the right warm-up before Büyükada's livelier energy.
Büyükada is the largest and most storied island in the chain, where ornate Victorian-era mansions sit behind wild gardens, and horse-drawn carriage lanes have only recently given way to electric vehicles. Your seasonal lunch is served here, followed by free time to explore the waterfront promenade, the hilltop monastery trail, or a seaside fish restaurant.
Pine-shaded roads connect the island's elegant wooden houses, giving every walk a sense of quiet nostalgia that feels far removed from the mainland's pace.
Once island time ends, you board the return ferry to Istanbul and continue by vehicle to your centrally located hotel. Tour services end with hotel drop-off, typically between 5 and 7 PM depending on ferry schedules and traffic.

What You'll See — In Detail
Every stop below notes exactly what's included, so there are no surprises about what you'll actually set foot on versus what you'll simply sail past.
Marmara Sea Crossing & Galata Bridge
As the ferry pulls away from Kabataş, Istanbul's minarets and high-rises gradually flatten into a thin band on the horizon. Cruising beneath Galata Bridge with a view of Maiden's Tower in Üsküdar is the emotional gateway to the day — wind off the Marmara, seabirds trailing the wake, and the islands growing ahead.
Heybeliada
Heybeliada greets you with pine-covered slopes and a drowsy harbour that feels worlds apart from central Istanbul. Its low-key character and hilltop Greek Orthodox seminary give the island a studious, unhurried mood that eases you into the archipelago before Büyükada's livelier energy.
Büyükada
The largest and most storied island in the chain, where ornate Victorian-era mansions sit behind wild gardens and horse-drawn carriage lanes have only recently given way to electric vehicles. The waterfront promenade, hilltop monastery trail, and seaside fish restaurants give you several ways to spend your free time.
Ottoman Mansions & Pine Roads
The heritage mansions of Büyükada date from a time when wealthy Ottoman and Levantine families built summer estates to escape the city heat. Pine-shaded roads connect these elegant wooden houses, giving every walk a sense of quiet nostalgia far removed from the mainland's pace.
Coastal Walking Paths
The shoreline paths let you wrap up the island section at your own speed, with the Sea of Marmara stretching south toward the horizon. This part of the day belongs to slow movement, open air, and that specific island calm that makes visitors reluctant to board the return ferry.
Kınalıada & Burgazada
The ferry route passes close to Kınalıada and Burgazada, two smaller islands in the Adalar chain, giving you view-only sightseeing from the deck. These islands are not disembarkation points on this itinerary — the guided time on land is reserved for Heybeliada and Büyükada.

AI Travel Recommendations
Based on seasonality, crowd patterns, and traveler feedback for this specific route, here's how to get the most out of your day on the Princes Islands.
Best Days to Go
Book a weekday (Tue–Thu) between May and June or September and October. Büyükada gets crowded with Istanbul day-trippers on summer weekends, and a quieter island makes the mansions and pine roads far more enjoyable.
Pack for Cobblestones
Streets on both islands mix cobblestone, packed earth, and hills. Closed, comfortable shoes matter more than sandals, especially if you plan to walk up to the monastery viewpoint.
Rent a Bike in Free Time
Büyükada's coastal loop is genuinely one of the best short bike rides in Turkey. If your free time allows 45+ minutes, a rental bike covers far more ground than walking alone.
Carry Small Cash
Card acceptance is inconsistent for bike rentals, buggies, and small vendors on the islands. Keep some Turkish Lira on hand even though the tour itself is prepaid.
Best Photo Windows
The Galata Bridge / Maiden's Tower stretch early in the crossing and the Büyükada monastery hilltop near sunset light are the two strongest photo opportunities of the day.
Swim If You Can
From June to September, pack swimwear and a light towel — several small coves near Büyükada's promenade are suitable for a quick swim during free time.
Upgrade to Private if you're traveling with young children, have mobility concerns, or want flexible timing on the islands rather than a fixed group schedule.
Combine with the Bosphorus Sunset Cruise later in your trip — the two experiences show Istanbul's water from very different angles without repeating scenery.
Confirm your pickup point the night before; central-district pickup times can shift by 10–20 minutes depending on traffic and group size.

Guest Reviews
Büyükada is very pretty and pleasant to walk around. There was, however, not much effort from the guide to give a proper introduction to what to expect — a short briefing during the bus ride around the island would have made it more informative.
Had a great experience visiting the islands. The guide didn't just take us on a boat and drop us off — he took us up to the monastery and walked us through it, and on the big island he showed us around and explained things very well. Would definitely recommend him.
