History's Turning Points, Down the Aegean Coast
This tour connects three of Turkey's most storied sites into one journey: a 20th-century battlefield, a Bronze Age city immortalized by Homer, and one of the greatest cities of the Roman world.
The Gallipoli peninsula was the site of a major 1915–16 WWI campaign. Today it's a peaceful historic park with cemeteries, memorials and preserved trenches at Anzac Cove, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair.
Across the Dardanelles lies Troy, the city of Homer's Iliad, excavated to reveal layers of settlement spanning thousands of years. Further south, Ephesus, near Selçuk, is one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean, with the iconic Library of Celsus and a 25,000-seat Roman theatre.
This tour links all three by road, ferry and a short domestic flight, with two hotel nights giving each region proper time.
