Begin on the Gallipoli Peninsula with ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair, cross the Dardanelles by ferry, then visit the ruins of Troy and its famous wooden horse before heading south.
World War I History, Ancient Legends & Roman Heritage
This 4-day Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus and Pamukkale tour from Istanbul is a guided Western Turkey tour package that joins four of the country's most important historical sites in one well-planned journey. In just four days and three nights you follow the story of Turkey from the Bronze Age legend of Troy and the Roman splendour of Ephesus to the World War I battlefields of Gallipoli and the natural wonder of Pamukkale, all with a professional English-speaking guide, comfortable transport and hotel accommodation in your choice of category.
Day 1 is the Gallipoli battlefields tour. After an early pickup in Istanbul you travel to the Gallipoli Peninsula, where a fully guided tour covers Brighton Beach, ANZAC Cove, Ariburnu Cemetery, the ANZAC Commemorative Site, the Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnstons Jolly and the Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial. Your guide explains the 1915 Dardanelles campaign on the ground, and a short ferry ride across the Dardanelles brings you to Canakkale for the night.
Day 2 is the Troy tour and transfer to Kusadasi. Visit the ruins of ancient Troy, the UNESCO World Heritage city linked with Homer's Iliad, the story of Helen and Paris and the legendary Trojan Horse. In the afternoon an intercity bus takes you south along the Aegean coast to the resort town of Kusadasi, your base for the next two nights.
Day 3 is a full-day Ephesus tour. Walk through one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean: Curetes Street, the Temple of Hadrian, the Library of Celsus and the Great Amphitheatre, then see the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the quiet House of the Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage site for Christians and Muslims alike.
Day 4 is the Pamukkale and Hierapolis tour. Drive inland to Pamukkale, the “Cotton Castle”, where thermal springs have built dazzling white travertine terraces. Explore the ancient spa city of Hierapolis with its colonnaded main street, thermal baths, theatre and vast necropolis, then take your flight from Denizli to Istanbul. You may also choose to extend your holiday to any destination you like.
Choose your comfort level. Pick Standard, Middle or High Class hotels when you inquire or reserve, and ask about private vehicle options if you prefer to travel on your own.
Why choose this 4-day Western Turkey tour?
Most travellers who want to see Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus and Pamukkale face a long list of bus timetables, tickets and hotel bookings. This package solves that: the route runs in a logical line from the Dardanelles south through the Aegean, and the entrance fees, guided tours, ferry, intercity bus, hotel nights and one domestic flight are all arranged for you. You spend your time at the sites, not at ticket counters.
Who is this tour for?
It suits history lovers, WWI and ANZAC pilgrims, archaeology fans, couples, friends and small groups who want a fast but unhurried introduction to Western Turkey. It is a regular group tour by default, and private vehicle options are available on request for families or anyone who prefers their own pace.
A note on transport
Long-distance travel is by comfortable intercity bus or private vehicle, depending on group size, plus one domestic flight from Denizli back to Istanbul at the end of the trip. Exact pick-up times are given after booking.

4-Day Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus & Pamukkale Itinerary from Istanbul
Looking for the best 4-day Western Turkey itinerary? This programme combines the Gallipoli battlefields tour, a Troy day tour, a full-day Ephesus tour and a Pamukkale and Hierapolis tour into one seamless route, with 3 nights in Canakkale and Kusadasi and a domestic flight from Denizli back to Istanbul. Every full touring day includes at least four named sites, and the stops are listed below so you know exactly what to expect.

On Day 4 you drive inland to Pamukkale and end the trip with a flight from Denizli to Istanbul instead of a long road transfer back.
Places you will visit each day
Day 1: Gallipoli Battlefields
Day 2: Troy & Kusadasi
Day 3: Ephesus
Day 4: Pamukkale & Hierapolis

The Gallipoli Peninsula was the stage for the 1915 Dardanelles campaign, an eight-month struggle that shaped the national stories of Turkey, Australia and New Zealand. Today the peninsula is a national historical park where cemeteries, memorials and original trench lines sit on quiet hillsides above the Dardanelles.
A guided Gallipoli battlefields tour turns the landscape into a story. You see how close the lines were, why the ridges mattered and how the campaign is remembered on both sides, with ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair as the main stops.
Lunch is taken in Eceabat, and the day ends with a short ferry crossing to Canakkale, the base for your first night.
Insider tip: Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The memorials are open to the sun and the walks between sites can be long, so a hat and sunscreen help in summer.

Troy is one of the most famous names in literature, and its ruins are every bit as layered as the story. Archaeologists have identified nine main cities on the mound, from the Early Bronze Age to the Roman period, and the site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On the Troy tour you walk the ancient walls, ramps and house foundations with your guide and see the Trojan Horse replica that makes the story of Helen, Paris and the Greek siege easy to picture.
After the morning tour you return to Canakkale for the intercity bus to Kusadasi, so the visit is timed to fit the afternoon departure.
Insider tip: Shade is limited at Troy in summer, so bring a hat and sunscreen. The afternoon bus to Kusadasi leaves around 12:30, so the tour is kept to the morning.

Ephesus: A Roman City You Can Still Walk

A full-day Ephesus tour lets you walk the main street unhurried and see its landmarks in order, from Curetes Street and the Temple of Hadrian to the Library of Celsus and the Great Amphitheatre.
The day also includes the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the House of the Virgin Mary, a quiet hillside shrine believed to be her last home.
Insider tip: Start early and bring a hat and water. There is little shade among the ruins, especially in summer, and the marble streets can be slippery.

Pamukkale: The Cotton Castle
Pamukkale means “cotton castle” in Turkish, and the name fits. Calcium-rich thermal water has built terraces of brilliant white travertine that cascade down the hillside, forming natural pools. The site is listed by UNESCO together with Hierapolis.
